Building a professional network and learning from industry experts is crucial for career development. Your knowledge and guidance can greatly influence the career of a Marketing Communications student. We invite you to become a mentor for the 2026-2027 WVU Marketing Communications Mentorship Program.
The program will consist of two cohorts:
Cohort 1: August 24 to December 11, 2026
Cohort 2: January 18 to May 7, 2027
Mentors should:
- Share their knowledge and industry expertise
- Maintain a positive attitude and serve as professional role models
- Remain engaged throughout the mentoring relationship
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to the WVU Marketing Communications Programs
Mentor Requirements:
We ask you to:
- Work with your mentee to set goals, including but not limited to career guidance, resume building, and application and interview advice. Use your experiences to provide insight and offer networking and connections.
- Meet with your mentee at least twice a month for the duration of the mentorship program. Your mentee is responsible for contacting you and scheduling the initial meeting.
- Notify wridenour@mail.wvu.edu if you have any issues or need support or resources.
- You must also submit an end-of-cohort evaluation to provide feedback and improvements.
If you are interested in mentoring a student in one or both cohorts, please complete the application form. Your application will be used to match you with a student who shares similar interests and career goals.
An optional introductory Q&A session will be offered via Zoom at the beginning of the program. A guide with resources, tips, and other materials for mentors and mentees will be provided at the start of the program.
