Dr. Larry Stultz has been on the IMC faculty since 2007. He served as department chair for the Bachelor of Arts in Advertising program at The Art Institute of Atlanta, where he taught courses in conceptual thinking and campaign development for twenty years.

He also taught creative campaigns at Atlanta’s Portfolio Center. Prior to entering the teaching phase of his life, he operated design and advertising firms in New Orleans and Atlanta with clients in hospitality and tourism, commercial real estate, corporate communications, health care and social services. He has served on the board of directors of the Atlanta Ad Club and provides ideation facilitation and consulting services to clients in the southeast.

Stultz holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in Visual Design from Purdue University, and he earned his Ph.D. in Educational Policy: Social Foundations from Georgia State University in 2006.

Dr. Stultz lives in Sugar Hill, GA on the north side of Atlanta with Tricia, his wife of fifty years. His two daughters, a son-in-law, and four grandsons also live in ATL where they spend a lot of time on youth team sports. Stultz also spends time camping, kayaking, hiking and fly fishing in North Georgia.

  • This is only my second class, but I was sold on the IMC program because of IMC 615 and the area of emphasis on Creative Strategy.
  • What helped me the most was simply feeling comfortable being able to reach out to Dr. Stultz and knowing I’d receive a timely response. I often times tend to over analyze assignments and portions of lessons, so I’d email him for clarity or advice. He would always reply within hours with an encouraging response.
  • What most helped me learn was the way Professor Stultz approached the material. Each week, he created a video describing both our discussion posts and weekly assignments. This helped me understand my assignments better. In addition, his positive attitude and dedication to student success made the course all the better.
  • The video that Professor Stultz provided weekly was so beneficial. This is the most creative I have felt in a while and it was encouraging to see that Prof. Stultz noticed that and mentioned it in one of his comments on my assignment. It has been a long time since someone has told me that, so thank you DrL for helping me reestablish that.
