In May 2015, Jocelyn K. Allen embarked on what she calls “Jocelyn3.0”, partnering with best friend Chandra S. Lewis to launch The Allen Lewis Agency (TALA), a full-service marketing and communications firm. As CEO, Allen puts her creative skills and passion for connecting individuals, brands and businesses to use daily for clients big and small.

In less than three years, TALA has worked with more than 20 clients across many industries, and currently serves as the Multicultural PR Agency of Record for Nissan North America.

Jocelyn K. Allen is a marketing and communications maestro skilled at finding and telling her clients’ stories to diverse audiences. With more than 16 years of experience working in a variety of communications roles at General Motors, Allen developed a vast network of media contacts including many writers and editors at multicultural news and lifestyle outlets.

In her last role with the automaker, Allen served simultaneously as Director of Regional, Grassroots and Diversity Communications for GM and the automaker’s Director of the Diversity Marketing and Communications Center of Excellence.

Prior to taking on her diversity communications roles for GM, Allen served as Vice President of Public Affairs and Corporate Communications for OnStar, where she led all internal and external communications including the launch of OnStar in China.

Allen has a bachelor’s degree in American Studies from the University of Notre Dame, and a master’s degree in Organizational Communications and Public Relations from Wayne State University where she has taught a graduate Communications course.

Allen is a frequent speaker at PR events and on college campuses including that of her alma maters. Most recently, the National Association of Black Journalists named Allen the 2017 Patricia L. Tobin Media Professional Award honoree. In April 2015, Wayne State University recognized Allen with its PR Alumni Award. In 2012, The Michigan Chronicle recognized Allen with its inaugural Women of Excellence Award. The year prior, Allen earned the 2011 Multicultural Marketing and Communications Award from The Ajamu Group. In 2010, Allen earned recognition as Alternatives for Girls Corporate Role Model and the year before that as Urban Wheel Awards Minority Executive of the Year.
