My Marcom Story: Erin Robinson

|

Erin Robinson, IMC ‘22, already had her own marketing and design business before she thought about pursuing a master’s degree. Her time in the WVU IMC program gave her the additional knowledge to grow the services of her business and help it flourish.

“In most of the classes, we were able to choose our own client or who we wanted to focus on, so I would focus on local businesses in my area and even some clients that I've had in the past,” Erin said. “I was able to put everything I learned into action so I will be able to implement it in the future.”

A native of Greensboro, North Carolina, Erin spent time working with local businesses on their social media and design assets due to her design background. During her time in the IMC program, she found that her love of marketing began to eclipse her love of design. Her favorite part? The research into determining target audiences and marketing strategies.

When asked about what she would tell people about the program, Erin talked about the industry professionals who serve as faculty. The professors who had years of experience in the field and still work in it were some of Erin’s favorite parts of the program as she learned about the growing field of integrated marketing communications.

“It's really the opportunity to hone in on an emerging field in marketing and with the professors who have years and years of experience and are still working in the field, they're always there to help you,” she said. “Just definitely take that opportunity. You won't regret it.”
