My Marcom Story: Gina Amsellem

|

Art director. Creative director. Brand manager. Gina Amsellem, M.S. IMC ‘23, came to the WVU Marketing Communications Online Graduate Program with one thing in mind — being an ideator.

“I really would love to be an ideator. That’s what I really want to do,” she said. “Just help people solve problems, and I feel like with this degree I would be able to do that and be able to have more confidence.”

A graphic designer in New York City by trade, Gina began working with integrated marketing and fell in love with it at previous jobs. As her experience in the industry grew, so did her desire to learn more about IMC in both a professional and academic setting.

“I really wanted to explore it more and learn more about it. I wondered how I was going to do that, and I found the program and knew this was it,” Gina said. “This was going to be it.”

A true ideator, Gina fell in love with graphic design because of the creative outlets and being able to come up with ideas to help someone solve a problem. Her new knowledge of marketing helps her come up with new ideas and designs that she can now support with audience insights. For Gina, it was the best of both worlds.

Gina dove right into the program once she found it, and she has not looked back since her start in the IMC program. The creative classes have been her favorite part of the degree as she has been able to combine her love of creative and design work with marketing principles. Her advice for anyone thinking about the program? Just do it.

“For anyone looking to really expand their mind and expand their knowledge about integrated marketing or marketing in general, I say go for it,” Gina said. “For me, there is nothing better than knowledge. There’s no downside to knowledge. Knowledge is always good.”
