My Marcom Story: Julia Aloisi

|

Julia Aloisi, Digital Marketing Communications ‘23, always knew she wanted to get a master’s degree. While completing her bachelor’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications, Julia began the search for a master’s program to fit her needs. When she stumbled upon the Digital Marketing Communications program from WVU, she knew she found what she was looking for.

"The program was perfect because it allowed me to continue to build on my career but also continue to further my education at the same time and apply exactly what I was learning in the classroom to my daily work,” Julia said. “My favorite aspect was all of the professors being so compassionate about the lifestyle that it takes to be a graduate student."

As a student with a full-time position as she entered graduate school, Julia had a lot on her plate when it came to time management, but the faculty and staff within the program were understanding of the situation she shared with many of her classmates. Her best tactic in tackling the program? Taking it one day at a time and not looking too far ahead so she would not overwhelm herself.

Julia graduated with her undergraduate degree in 2020, and because of the Covid-19 pandemic, she did not get to have a full ceremony when she received her bachelor’s degree. Despite her master’s degree being online, Julia knew she wanted to attend the ceremony for her degree, and it fulfilled the desire she had for that in-person celebration of her and her classmates’ accomplishments.

"It really meant a lot to have the support, even though it's an online program and there's a lot of people we haven't interacted with in person,” Julia said. “You just felt the love and support there. Knowing that you're a mountaineer for life, I think that that's really what makes the program wonderful."
