My Marcom Story: Lindsay Fanning

|

Lindsay Fanning, IMC ‘23, came to the program with one major thing in mind — feeling prepared to get a job in the industry. A big girl job, as she called it, was her top priority and goal for the IMC program. She left the program with more than just a full-time position.

“I am the worst at time management. I procrastinate everything until the very last minute,” Lindsay said. “I think I just learned how to overcome it a little bit better by doing the IMC degree.”

The IMC program helped Lindsay with developing other skills beyond just marketing skill sets in her courses. She learned how to manage her time between work and classes, and she set herself up with a system to make sure she was organized headed into every course. It helped her set boundaries for herself and block off her schedule accordingly to ensure she was successful.

Coming into the program, Lindsay wasn’t entirely sure where she wanted her career to head. She studied communications in her undergraduate career and worked part time in marketing. When she transitioned to studying marketing, she kept her options open from in-house positions to agencies in any industry.

When it came to finding success with the program, Lindsay credits instructors that really cared.

“The professors are the best part of this program because they are motivated to connect with students. They want to see you succeed, and they're motivated to do it and to put in the work to help us succeed and to give us all the resources that we might need.”
