Neal Stewart is the chief commercial officer for Dan-O's Seasoning. He has more than 20 years of professional experience, primarily in the beer industry working on brands like Coors Light, Miller Lite, Dogfish Head and Deschutes Brewery. Back in the early 2000s, his efforts achieved national acclaim when his influencer marketing strategy helped resurrect Pabst Blue Ribbon to become the fastest-growing beer brand in America after sales declined for 23 consecutive years.
When Stewart was the vice president of marketing for Dogfish Head, his team launched the social media series called "That's Odd...Let's Drink It" in which the founder created unique beers inspired by celebrities and then shared and discussed said beers with said celebrities.
“That’s Odd… Let’s Drink It with Dogfish Head
This standout campaign Stewart had the pleasure of working on was a social media series called "That's Odd, Let's Drink It," which we launched in collaboration with Complex Media.
The series featured the founder and brewer, Sam Calagione, embarking on an adventure of crafting unique beers inspired by various celebrities. These beers were not only eccentric and creative but also served as a testament to the innovative spirit of craft beer culture. On the show, Sam would taste these distinct brews, discussing their origins and flavors, and relating them back to the broader craft beer community.
This campaign not only highlighted the artistry and creativity involved in brewing but also strengthened the connection between our brand and the vibrant culture of craft beer enthusiasts.
Stewart used the knowledge he gained in the M.S. Integrated Marketing Communications program and shares this knowledge in the classes he now teaches at WVU.
