Although WVU’s Integrated Marketing Communications program is fully online, one of Nora Clark’s favorite memories from her time in the program was a trip she made to campus in 2021. She cherishes all of the connections she made throughout her time in the program. “I would say there isn’t one favorite memory, but the memories of connecting with others and building those relationships,” Clark added.
Of those connections, Evangelo Nasser had the biggest impact on her educational experience. “He encouraged my interest in the indigenous history of higher education in the U.S. along with my passion for neurodiversity in the workplace,” Clark fondly remembered. “We’ve kept in touch since and he invited me to speak on a panel and we even met in person and had lunch together in Atlanta! He’s someone I don’t hesitate to reach out to or connect people to - he is a wonderful teacher and human being!”
Nasser taught her favorite course, Multicultural Marketing. The course content aligned with her interests in higher education, marketing, culture, and the human experience. She uses what she learned in this course, along with continued research, to communicate the importance of diverse lived experiences and cultures in her current role.
When Clark was looking for a master’s degree, WVU’s IMC program was the only one she could find with an emphasis on higher education marketing. She looked up to several industry pros who were graduates of the program as well.
It wasn’t an easy choice, as I was halfway through a grad program at the time, but it was well worth it, and a choice I would make 100x over. Nora Clark
For incoming and prospective students, Clark recommends finding your why, sticking to your beliefs, and pursuing your goals wholeheartedly. She also encourages students not to be afraid to ask for help. “This program and those who are here to support you will be there for you to help make it happen. Believe in yourself and lean into them when you need it,” Clark added.
Clark, a Fall 2024 graduate of the Integrated Marketing Communications master’s degree, is currently the Marketing Recruitment Specialist for Talent Brand & Acquisition at Coupa Software. Her hometown is Tallahassee, FL.
